About the neighborhood
The periphery of the Druzhba neighborhood is successfully developing as a new business center, and part of it is the tallest building in Bulgaria – Sky Fort, which will rise 202 m above the ground. The building is part of the Sofia Capital City business complex, the development of which began in 2015. The project is located on an area of 57,000 square meters at one of the key locations in the city – the eastern entrance to Sofia.
The first phase of the complex is expected to employ 7,000 employees and attract 2,000 visitors daily.
Vrana Park was created under the influence of European landscape parks by King Ferdinand I.
The wide variety of 821 tree, shrub and herbaceous species from 118 families and 435 genera on an area of less than 100 hectares is impressive.
The area where the “Vrana” park began to be built was a bare plain deforested during Turkish times. Only the river Iskar, flowing nearby, enlivened to some extent the surrounding monotonous landscape. Vrana Park was intended for the royal family as an out-of-town summer residence.
Gardeners, whose names did not appear in the lists of famous park builders-landscapers in Europe, took part in its creation.
Today, the park is the scene of many cultural events and provides an opportunity for educational family outings and recreation.
